4 Steps to Beat Hormonal Acne•
Yet again, it's that time of the month and now, you're not only dealing with bloating and cramping, but you're also dealing with acne. And, not just any acne, but the stubborn acne that refuses to go away. Unfortunately, that's the story of hormones. And, while we can't change them, we can control how they affect our skin. So, fear not! There is a quick fix for that annoying acne and it starts with a balanced skincare routine and a hint of fresh lemon 🍋.
Begin by washing your face with a water-soluble gel cleanser. Use a cleanser that rinses easily without leaving a residue. Our Vita Cleanse Simple Cleansing Gel works great!
Soak a cotton ball or pad with an alcohol-free toner such as our Mist 1000X Weightless Hydration and gently stroke over your entire face and neck.
Apply a benzoyl peroxide gel with at least 10 percent benzoyl peroxide twice daily over the affected areas of skin only. I use this one.
Keep in mind that benzoyl peroxide can be drying to the skin. If irritation or dryness occurs, limit the application to once a day or once every other day.
Step 4 Part A
Apply a moisturizer designed for your skin type and apply ONLY if needed. Because acne seems to like both oily and combination skin types, it's essential that you apply the moisturizer to dry areas of skin ONLY. To find the best moisturizer for your skin type, use this chart.
Step 4 Part B
During the day, use a sunscreen with an SPF of 25 or higher. Preferably a light-weight liquid sunscreen and apply at least thirty minutes before going outside. See my top pick.
WARNING: All products applied to the face should be free of alcohol, citrus fruits & oils, dyes, essential oils, fragrance, limonene, linalool, mint, soap, and witch hazel. And, NEVER pop your pimples!
